    The Chequered Flag for Vrischikans

It is almost time for Vrischikans (people with the lunar sign of Scorpio) to say ‘PHEW! What a ride!’ That is because the life-changing period of Sadé Sati, which began on the 14th of November 2011, is due to end a couple of hours after the 24th sunrise of January 2020. Although the period is known as Sadé Sati or ‘seven and a half’, it has already been, as of today, seven years and ten months since that ‘fateful’ day that ushered in a tumultuous, challenging and metamorphic stint in the lives of Vrischikans. 3. Hi all,

I have completed listening to all the chapters! It has been a marvelous, magnificent and phenomenal experience! The master’s captivating narration in his enchanting voice took me into a deep meditative trance. When I heard the foreword and introduction itself I knew I was in for something major in my life. Then it was like understanding everything step by step. Wow! After completing I needed 15 minutes to come back to my normal state. I am feeling like I had another birth…it is not easy to describe. My mind is clearer so I have no more worries about makar rashi sadesathi and all that. I wish I had got this chance much before in my life…..things would have been much different.

One thing is definite that I will hear it minimum 10 times in one month. I never expected my life will undergo such a tremendous change in the last one year and now after today.

Sincere thanks and regards to the master and to all,

Someone wrote to me a long mail in which they spoke about having wronged someone but at the same time, also justified their own action saying that the other person too had erred.

As a response to that mail, I am posting below a video I made last year. It contains some important benefits of apologising and also of forgiving.

May that person and all of you be blessed with peace of mind.

Thanks for sharing this video.. It’s nicely explained the importance of saying sorry and forgiveness..As you told and wrote several times EGO is the dangerous word and if anyone have it , definitely it will work against him itself..
Also nice articulation from Vishal side.. God bless..

    • Hi all,

This video has explained the importance of apologizing and forgiving in a very beautiful way. I think even highly egoistical people will accept it after watching this video. Junior’s voice and style are superb. He is lucky to have a father like the master. He must be having very good karma for getting a chance in such a young age to learn such important facts of life from his great father.

As a young Makar Rashi person who is experiencing the increasing heat of sadesathi I have been a regularly reading the beautiful and thought provoking articles from the master and all the comments from you all. It is helping me a lot. Before I used to be worried about things like my higher studies and getting married, etc etc. Now I can feel that I am lucky to experience difficulties in a young age as it will prepare me for my good future. I am following all the advice and I am making good use of this time.

Sincere thanks and regards to all,

    • Krishna, I appreciate you and your boy for this brilliant video teaching the virtues of apology and forgiveness. Thank you.
      Have a great day.

Sir : when is the Audio book getting released … waiting as I am travelling this week and look forward to hearing during travel..

      • Hello Kishor,

Apologising and forgiving are indeed two great qualities that a human being can possess.

I have submitted the audio files to the publishing company and have been informed by them that it could take anywhere between a week to a fortnight before the audiobook ‘The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English retold and read for you by Tavamithram Sarvada’ appears for sale, depending on the platform such as Amazon. They have promised to let me know as soon as the book is published and have also asked me to keep an eye out by visiting the distributor sites and searching for the title.

  8. Om Shri Ganeshaya Namaha.

The significance of meditating upon Shri Ganesha before beginning any Pooja or commencing anything new is the belief that doing so clears one’s path of possible blocks and impediments. Shri Ganesha is also known as Vigna Vinayak. The name means ‘the remover of obstacles’.

Prior to doing anything, a clear mind is necessary in order to be able to focus upon the work which could be a Pooja, a meditation session, a school project or a business venture.
When you pray to Shri Ganesha, you request for a clear path before you so that you may arrive at your target. Shri Ganesha Mantras greatly aid in bringing the mind from a state of being flooded with thoughts of different kinds to one in which there are peace and a single point of focus.

May Shri Ganesha help you achieve a crystal clear mind, clear all the obstacles that lay between you and your grand success, and lead you to your dream life.

  9. Our SoundCloud and the Release of the Audiobook – The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English presented by Tavamithram

As part of my preparation for publishing the Audiobook – ‘The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English presented by Tavamithram’, I have taken the advice of some well-wishers and have made a SoundCloud account with audio tracks of the videos on our YouTube Channel, that can be used for promoting the product.

I am currently in contact with two companies regarding publishing the Audiobook hoping to decide on either of them and succeed in publishing the audiobook on the 2nd of September 2019, which happens to be Ganesh Chaturthi day this year.

Since the Sanatana Dharma is not an organised religion with commandments, rules and other conditions, I am of the humble opinion that for anyone to call themselves a Sanatana Dharmi (a Hindu), they should have read or heard the entire Srimad Bhagavad Gita in a language of their choice at least once in their lifetime. The audiobook that I have created is designed to help English speaking people achieve this modest goal and minimum requirement within a period of two hours and fifty minutes, which is the time one would need to watch a typical Bollywood film, thereby giving them the consciousness and strong sense of being Sanatana Dharmic, and changing their life for the better forever.

Unlike in organised religions in which the god(s) of those religions give(s) people commandments and tell(s) them what to do and what not to, the Teachings of Bhagavan Krishna help a devotee in achieving the following objectives, which are merely a few of the countless ones that a sincere devotee gains by reading and understanding the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

    • Clear their minds of nonsensical ideas that have been infecting their lives all the while
    • Be healthy and strong
    • Be fearless
    • Think clearly, intelligently and responsibly
    • Always work with the welfare of the world in mind
    • Be a perfectionist
    • Be a useful citizen of the world

The Srimad Bhagavad Gita can certainly be called a panacea for all problems but that is only by correcting the root cause for all woes in life, namely, an unclear mind due to confused ideas about God, about oneSELF and also about one’s own ego.

Towards the end of His grand discourse, Bhagavan Shri Krishna tells Arjuna that now that he has all the required knowledge, Arjuna could do what he wished to do.

Therefore when seeking guidance from others, it would always be better for people to take as many inputs as possible, to process all the information in their mind and take decisions based on righteousness.

  13. https://tavamithramsarvada.wordpress.com/2019/08/24/audiobook-the-srimad-bhagavad-gita-narrated-by-tavamithram/

An important objective of mine is to encourage every Dharmic person (I don’t use the term Hindu because it is a derogatory term given to us by invading foreigners – Mlecchas) to read or at least just listen to a simple translation of the entire Srimad Bhagavad Gita at least once in life without wasting their brains on confusing, lengthy, boring, somniferous or sleep-inducing interpretations.

The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in the form of an audiobook which I have created, is one in which simple translations of all the 700 shlokas have been narrated by me in a way which I believe, should be able to hold the listener’s interest and give them a feeling of going on a mental journey of two hours and fifty minutes towards understanding and realising the teachings of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita.

    Why am I doing this?

    Bhagavan Krishna said:
    य इदं परमं गुह्यं मद्भक्तेष्वभिधास्यति |
    भक्तिं मयि परां कृत्वा मामेवैष्यत्यसंशयः || १८ ६८ ||
SBG 18: 68 The one who teaches this Supreme Philosophy to My devotees, has the greatest form of love for Me and offers to Me the highest form service. Such a person shall undoubtedly come to Me.

My humble knowledge of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita has saved my life many times and has helped me face extremely challenging and perilous situations in the calmest and most composed manner possible.

From my own experience, I can confirm some of the immediate results of studying the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. They include achieving a state of mental peace and equanimity; fearlessness; self-confidence; a clearer and sharper mind; a buoyant feeling in the heart; an iron will; a strong drive to care for your physical health; kindness; and above all, the ecstatic feeling of being on the right path.

The date of the release of the audiobook and details regarding marketing channels through which it will be sold will be announced very soon.

    Jai Shri Krishna.

Positive Karma Through CSR in the Bhagavad Gita

Whether one is running a period of Saturn or not, it would always be a great idea to do good and collect some good Karma. People who have studied how Karma works know that their present life is a result of their actions in the past and their past will be a result of their actions in the present. Now that Vischikans are on the last few months of their Sadé Sati, it would be sensible to seriously consider what I have been saying ever since I started this site and to hurry up in taking steps as per The Fifth Pearl.

  16. Jai Shri Krishna to all :

Being bought up in pure vegetarian family and fed by Milk and related product since early childhood it was very difficult to digest concept of Vegan which many are practicing . Growing further and knowing and getting into bhakti of Lord Krishna there was a doubt in mind that since Krishna is portrayed especially during his childhood being amongst Cows , Milk, Butter …. this gave sort of endorsement that drinking Milk and its related products is sanctified . However recently I came across a very good lecture by Ojas life style presenter who are endorsing Vegan lifestyle. What they said in support of not linking Krishna past time with milk:
1 Krishna is shown taking Milk during his childhood only . Never it has mentioned or he linked to milk products during his growing up stages. So we too should give up taking milk beyond childhood.
    2. Krishna was allowed to take cow milk only as he was away from his mother since his birth .. so it is sanctified in Vedas that if some one looses his mother then he can for some time consume milk from Cow which is considered as mother .

I am now cutting down on Milk and their derivatives ..

    Jai shri Krisna .

Please find my reply to your question in this post:

By the way, what you said, “I am now cutting down on Milk and their derivatives ..” is something similar to a terrorist saying “I do not kill hundreds of people anymore but stop with a few beheadings every day.”

I hope the new post “Vegan devotees of Krishna”, gives you a clear answer.

  17. Dear Sir,

I would like to write few things that one need to adopt during the period of Sade Sati and Shani Dasa.

As you have stressed upon this in the past, I would like to reiterate that it is not a period of retribution but a period for course corrections. The following practical inputs would help:

Take utmost precaution in everything that you do. Please do not be in a hurry to take decisions. Sudden impulsive decision should be avoided. In case you are in a low mood, it is not a good time to take decisions.
Facing problems in life is a way of balancing out our karma. Please take it as an opportunity to make corrections within ourselves as opposed to finding faults with others.
Insults, disappointments and humiliations are to be taken with a balanced mindset. Instead of reacting to the situation, it would work better if we take the key message that it conveys. However, if there is an unfair treatment meted out, it is better to deal with them firmly without any negative mindset.
If the situation becomes insurmountable, it is better to raise our hands and offer total Sharanagati to Lord Krishna! It can be a sincere prayer, silent meditation or chanting of mantras. Any of them would certainly help. The key here is to keep cool and a positive mindset.
Being humbler and showing humility towards everyone has its own advantages. It can certainly avoid conflicts in life.

    अमानित्वमदम्भित्वमहिंसा क्षान्तिरार्जवम् |
    आचार्योपासनं शौचं स्थैर्यमात्मविनिग्रहः

    Humility; being free from pretentiousness; non-violence; the virtue of forgiving; modesty, service of the teacher, purity, steadfastness, self-control;

Lastly, please keep in mind Tavamithram Sir’s article on Cup of Life. You will have an entirely different perspective to your problems and the way you approach them!

May Lord Krishna protect you all and shower His gift of love, happiness and health!

  21. Namaste.

I thank you all once again for the warm birthday wishes that you have sent me.

The most amazing miracle we experience every moment of our life is, being alive. It is the most precious and supreme gift that we receive with every heartbeat of ours. The very reason that one is alive is good enough to celebrate by simply soaking into each and every moment that will never repeat.

Nature, colours and lights certainly contribute to making people feel happy and so does good music. The beautiful musical composition called the Second Waltz of the Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich, is one that no matter what stress levels a person might be in, listening to it actually gives wings to one’s heart and makes it fly.

This video is of a harmonica rendition of mine of this magical composition. I hope the film that I have made with clips showing some wonders of nature, helps people feel good, light, happy and thankful for the greatest gift called life.

May you all be healthy, happy and prosperous.

  22. Namaste,

I would like to share a few thoughts on Tavamithram Sir’s birthday.

The most important thing we need in life, to be happy and free of worries, is courage.
Courage shows when we have a total conviction that our moral compass is right.

Our moral compass is mostly right when we repeatedly make good decisions and take actions that are just, planned and with good intentions for our benefit as well as the benefit of the others on earth.

Confidence is like a reflection of courage.

It shows in the voice, the manner of speaking, the way we carry ourselves. We cannot expect an uncourageous person to show confidence. Because that person is highly unsure about a lot of things.

It is possible to be confident when we are more or less certain about the outcome of the actions.
But one cannot be confident when there are unseen forces at work and our actions are not the only players.

In these situations, we need to dive deep and find courage.

How do we find courage and confidence?

Trust and faith, and Surrender to the higher power – Sharanaagathi.

We gain confidence by performing our duties and actions with intentions of self-betterment and for the benefit of others. These are predictable aspects with some certainty in the outcome.
We gain courage by surrendering to the higher power when there is no certainty in the outcome, and by accepting wholeheartedly that everything that happens without our control has a purpose in this lifetime of ours.

When we have the trust that everything is going to be okay, even when we do not know the outcome, and even in spite of the outcome that we dread, we gain courage.

It was this couple of Videos that I found on the Tavamithram page that first got me thinking.

Trust and faith in Bhagavan krishna

I heard a calm and reassuring voice behind this. The voice told me a lot of things that made sense right away.

I lost a lot of fear I had carried with me, and with each time I heard this, I gained courage.
This person really knew what they were talking about. There was a lot of personal conviction behind the voice and this was not a copy paste job from somewhere.

When I finally spoke to our Tavamithram Sir a few months later, what struck me was the clarity in his thoughts, and the confidence in his voice. I read the Gita as I was instructed.

Every time I spoke to him, his guidance made me more practical, realistic and a little more courageous. He shared his wisdom, born out of his personal experiences and challenges that he has taken on courageously.

There is a saying that we give a lot of what we have the most.

From him, I gained Courage for the uncertain, Confidence backed by good actions, and Clarity of thought with the wisdom he shared and by reading the Gita.

On a lighter note, I am certain that he has rid this world of a lot of “Darpoks” like me and helped us on our feet that we didn’t know we had.

Dear Sir, thank you for your guidance. Please accept my wishes on your birthday.

I pray to Bhagavan Krishna for a long and healthy life for you!

      मला तुला मराठ्यात उत्तर द्यायचे आहे पण आप्ल्या फोरमवर आपले मित्र जे मराठी बोलत नाहीत ते नाही समजणार, right?

I am proud of all your achievements and more so during peak Sadé Sati. You need to be extremely grateful to your parents who have brought you up so well. I am sure you remember the day over five years ago when you were feeling hopeless and I cited to you the example of our honourable PM Modiji. My sincere suggestion to all who wish to be a Karmayogi is to simply follow our most amazing leader Modiji.

Stay blessed and do continue to spread the teachings of Bhagavan Krishna wherever you go. Remember Shloka 18:68 of the SBG Sharing with others the supreme knowledge of the Gita is a great service you can do for mankind and the best way to show your love for Krishna.

  36. The Cup of Life

    Namaste everyone.

Some of our friends have been writing to me about their mounting pressure due to financial problems or due to relationship issues. Many Vrischikans who are eagerly awaiting the month of January (2020) for the Sadé Sati period to end, have informed me that they have not seen any noticeable improvements in their lives. However, most of them seem to overlook the fact that they have already sailed through more than seven years of the period that they had dreaded the most.

I wrote a new post today in which I have shared a simple philosophy of life that I have been following even in the most perilous of situations that I have been in and I hope that it helps people view life in a more positive manner.

What a wonderful situation it is to be in when the leader of the nation is also a friend, philosopher and guide who teaches people good values?

Modiji briefly talks about the great debate that Shri Adi Sankara had with Mandana Mishra at a time when most people had strayed extremely far away from the path of Dharma and had taken to heavily ritualistic practices.

Please watch the video in which our honourable and beloved PM Modiji narrates the story and ends it with an important message.

  39. What a great blessing it is to have a selfless leader who is a true ‘Sthithapragnya’!

    SBG 2:54 Arjuna said:
O Keshava! What is the description of a man who has attained unwavering, firm and steady intellect in Self-realisation? How does such a man talk? How does he sit and how does he walk?

SBG 2:55 Shree Bhagavan Krishna said:
One who has given up all desires of the heart has a purified mind which finds joy in itself and not in external factors is called a ‘Stithapragnya’ who is a person of steady consciousness.

SBG 2:56 He who is not agitated or disturbed despite the threefold miseries, or is also not euphoric when he has comforts, and he is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage with a steady mind.

SBG 6:07 The one who has conquered the mind has already reached Superconsciousness. Such a person has crossed all dualities such as cold and heat; pleasure and pain; honour and dishonour; and is always balanced, peaceful and steadfast in devotion.

I express my humble gratitude and immense happiness for being born in the great land of Bharat Varsh – India.

Ours is the land which gave the world great knowledge and wisdom. Our ancestors were people who have been known for their advanced thinking and philosophy. Bharat Varsh has been the target of invaders and colonisers who have incessantly worked on destroying the Sanatana Dharma and the very fabric of Universal Oneness, Love and Peace, that forms the basis of this great part of the world.

Today, thanks to the phenomenal leadership that Bharat Varsh has been blessed with, the day is not far when India will be crowned VishvaGuru or the Teacher of the World again.

    I salute our National Flag.
I bow down before my Mother India who is my Pride, my Honour and the one who gives me my Identity.

  43. Namaste,

It has been roughly 2 years since I first read the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in 2017 after I was guided by Tavamithram Sir. I have learnt a lot and I have changed so much for the better since then.
Over this time, I have slowly begun to understand and appreciate the power of Karma- Actions over which we do have control.
Karma seems to have taken a backseat in the Hindu way of life.
For generations, we have been using the word Karma in a wrong light, i.e. to emphasize on a negative incident over which we have no control.
Something bad happened to you because you did something bad and now you are doomed. Blame Karma.
Or in the case of internet, Karma has been presented as an instant payback/revenge mechanism.
Over all this noise, the real meaning and relevance of Karma has been lost somewhere in the background.
If I have not understood it wrongly, Karma simply translates to “Action/duty”.
The importance of Karma has been elaborated in detail by Bhagavan Krishna in the Gita.
Bhagavan Krishna goes so far as to say, “Performing ones action/duty truly and faithfully is preferable to giving up performing actions and to separate from the society”.
With that, Bhagavan Krishna puts the power and responsibility in our hands. Karma, or performing actions is the only thing that is truly under our control.
If a person is in a bad place A, and they feel much better in a better place B, they have to make that journey. And that will require their efforts, some sacrifice and a lot of commitment and dedication.
Having said this, whether that person reaches the better place B, or not, is not for them to decide. The world is a gigantic place and there are too many factors involved around this outcome which are not under this person’s control.
But if they do not even begin this journey and just spend all the time praying that they reach place B, they will not have covered even a meter of distance.
Do prayers help? Of course prayers help. They calm us down, make our minds clear, give us strength and courage to carry out the journey and they give hope that the unknown factors will be kind to us and we will be protected.
But Prayers do not equal Action.
There was a proverb in our school diary that went something like “God helps those who help themselves”. I never really understood the deeper meaning and the sheer practicality of it all these years.
Bhagavan Krishna – the entire universe, past present and future personified, was right in front of Arjuna as his charioteer. But Arjuna did not get to just pray his enemies away. Arjuna had to battle it out, perform his actions and win the war under the protection and guidance of Bhagavan Krishna.
It is important to note that Bhagavan Krishna does not mince his words, but actually tells Arjuna to perform his duty and worry about the outcome. He tells him to fight bravely and faithfully.
If he wins, he would enjoy his kingdom, and if he dies, he would go the abode of the bravest of the brave for doing his duty and fighting the righteous war. Either ways, he had to perform his action.
Dear Sir, I remember you telling me that it is very important to invest our time and energy in improving our skills every day. If we want a better future or if we want to be removed from a tough situation, we have to perform our actions to the best of our abilities. We may or may not get what we want. But we will have the satisfaction of having done our best, and not having any regrets for leaving room for more to be desired in our actions.
So it is important to choose our actions wisely. Our actions should not cause any harm, pain or suffering to others and our actions should be as righteous as we can judge. And they must be performed in the best possible way.
The focus should be on performing those actions that can improve our skillset, or that can give us a better situation or that can get people out of a bad situation.
A simple way to approach this is to think that you are performing this action for someone whom you hold very dear to you. Be it your companion or your parents or your friends or Bhagavan Krishna himself.
If you feel lazy or disinterested to do your duty, then imagine that you are doing it for Bhagavan Krishna. Would you still continue to do it in a pathetic way if the ruler of the universe Himself asked you?
Karma is cause and effect. It is not purely “Do good and get good. Do bad and get bad”.
Every action that we perform is a cause for an effect that may or may not be immediate. But rest assured, that action is recorded in the universe and the effect will be felt someday in some lifetime.
And this is precisely why it is bad to condemn someone to their fate saying that it is their bad Karma that put them in that place. If they are deserving of any help, it is important to give them that relief. We are part of the universe too and I believe that helping someone deserving will rid them of their past karma. The universe speaks through us.
In conclusion, we should perform our actions to the best of our abilities and then let our prayers do their thing. If we are deserving, then help will be on its way. But either ways, the situation will pass and life will go on.
This is what I have learnt over the last 2 years after having read the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
Reading the Bhagavad Gita was one of the best decisions that I have made in my life and I thank dear Tavamithram Sir for his invaluable guidance that I have received.

    • Hi @DhruvaAndLordVishnu,

This post of yours is probably one of the best among the thousands that we have seen on this forum. It is heartening to see the clarity and profoundness of the understanding that you have gained on the teachings of Krishna through the SBG.

As I have mentioned oftentimes on this site, a few major problems of many people from the Sanatana Dharmic community, are the distorted ‘God concept’ they have in their heads and their ignorance of the basic principles of the Self, Advaita, Karma, Attachments and Death, taught by our wise and great ancestors. Due to their confused and sometimes warped thinking, a lot of people waste precious time on the planet by unnecessarily complicating their lives, which could actually be much simpler and more enjoyable if only they read the SBG at least a few times regularly and tried to apply the knowledge in their own lives.

I greatly appreciate your participation in this forum and look forward to more inspiring posts as well as spiritually and morally uplifting discussions from you and from our other old and new friends.

      Stay blessed.

  45. The TVM Gita Samiti Audiobook of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English.

    Namaste everyone.

The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English as an audiobook is undergoing a final revision. As I am temporarily indisposed due to a back injury, the completion of the work is taking longer than planned. It could take another week from today. I shall announce the date of release, two days in advance.

I am of the firm opinion that the Audiobook will make it easier for a lot of people to complete going through all the 18 Chapters of the SBG, particularly for those who are lazy to read the great scripture or find it boring to read it,

There are some other ideas and suggestions that I shall offer when the Audiobook is released.

    • Namaste and good evening Guruji!

To begin with, I would like to wish you a speedy recovery and I hope the injury is not too bad.

Thanks for the video of the beautiful ex-Christian Indian woman. Her words touched my soul. Tears of joy ran down my cheeks as I listened to her describing Hinduism and read the verses from the Gita you have quoted. I realize that I am also a blessed person like her who received the opportunity to discover the beauty of Hinduism and return to the religion of forefathers.

I have traveled a long way since the time I contacted you at the beginning of 2017. Thanks for being there for a lost soul like me and for leading me to the path of my true destiny.

The way I usually end anything I write is with this old Americal Cherokee prayer and blessing that I was taught when I was a young girl –

May the Warm Winds of Heaven blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins make happy tracks in many snows,
and May the Rainbow always touch your shoulder.

Sending prayers, love and warm wishes to all

  46. Hi all,

I have been regularly reading all the invaluable articles and discussions from people on this wonderful site. As a makar rashi person – capricorn I am still quite ‘young’ in sadesathi as compared to scorpios and sagis but I have already been through a lot of hardships in the past three years. One thing is for sure that had it not been for the problems I am facing in life I would have neither discovered this site nor have learnt all that I have learnt in the last ten months or so.

Reading the Gita fully at least once a month and watching some videos on this channel are helping me tremendously. I can well imagine how the new Gita audiobook will be with the Master’s fatherly and reassuring voice. I eagerly look forward towards its release and to be one of its first receivers or buyers.

Sincere thanks to the master and all others,
