The ‘Who am I’ question has always intrigued people of almost all civilisations. There have been numerous renowned philosophers who came out with their own answers to the question. The French philosopher René Descartes, who is known as the father of modern philosophy, gave a conclusive statement, saying, “I think, and therefore I am.” He meant that it is only through our mind that we know that we exist and therefore if we can think, we exist. On the other hand, according to the teachings of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, it is “I am, and therefore I think!”

Feelings such as happiness, sadness, fear, anger, desperation, hatred, etc are states of mind. You are happy or sad only when you think of whatever it is that gives you those feelings. It is the way you perceive different situations that cause to the different states of mind. One one hand, being attached to people, to objects, to one’s work or accomplishments apart from their feeling of ownership of what they believe they possess, can give rise to the fear of the risk of losing them. This fear of losing leads people to take the wrong decisions, which can have serious repercussions and cause irreversible damages in one’s life. When the fear of losing has taken control over one’s mind, they not only give up, but they also give themselves lame excuses and baseless reasons in order to justify to themselves their decision to quit. This decision to quit, however, does not solve their problem or make them feel better! It only makes them even more despondent.

The Bhagavad Gita begins with the chapter that talks about the feelings of despondency, weakness and confusion that took over Arjuna’s intellect. His despondent state of mind was about to turn him, who was known as a valiant, intelligent and knowledgeable warrior king, into a coward, destroy his perspicacity and drive him towards delusion, failure, defeat and ignominy.

However, Arjuna took an extremely important step that people in a despondent state of mind need to take in order to improve their situation and achieve their goals. What he did was to concede that he had an unclear mind, and asked Krishna to accept him as His pupil and teach him the way to counter the problem that he was facing. The knowledge and advice that Arjuna received from Krishna, changed his way of thinking and perceiving things, as a result of which, Arjuna attained grand success.

The two hours and fifty minutes that you spend on this audiobook of the complete Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English presented by Tavamithram Sarvada will help you:

  1. Correct flaws in your thinking as well as in your perception of reality,
  2. Understand the natural ‘Cause and Effect’ principle,
  3. Become fearless, self-confident, generous and socially responsible
  4. Reset your life by learning to override all your negative past Karma through Divine Knowledge, and,
  5. Most importantly, learn to recognise your TRUE SELF and Master the Art of Mastering your Mind

  1. Dear good sir,

I thank you with folded hands for the Bhagavat Geeta audio. So far I heard it thrice fully. Your voice and narration style are phenomenal. My journeys to and fro Chennai-Bangalore I did by listening to the audio then I heard again along with my wife and daughter after returning to my home. I heard the chapters 2, 7 10 11 and 18 extra number of times. In chapter 11 I was feeling very emotional. Two things I appreciate the most are the overall effect of the narration and the simple understanding we can get regarding the different yogas tutored by Lord Krishna. I am fifty years old man now so I feel very much ashamed for not having read Bhagvat Geeta until now. Kudos to you for making it possible for me to get this great knowledge.

You have made it possible for people like me to know the whole book. I have recommended your audio to my relatives, friends and my daughter’s school. If everyone understands Lord Krishna’s teaching I think we can easily overcome all our problems. I agree with what you have said in the introduction about the mind. Yes controlling the mind is the biggest problem. I am undergoing depression due to a tragic incident but now I am able to deal with my situation in a better way.

I have placed an order for your book also. I hope you can give the Geeta audio in the form of a CD so that we can have it along with the book.

It seems you are not in India but are living in Germany. Next time when you come to India it would be my great honour to meet you in person if possible. I will not take much of your time,

With sincere regards from a humble soul,

    Mallikarjuna Rao

  2. Hello,

I deem myself very fortunate to get a chance to find this site. In fact, I am first of all thankful to youtube for suggesting me your sample video which I heard before being led to your channel and this website. The voice and style of narration are excellent with a gripping effect. I am looking forward to hear it in full tomorrow.

Ever since a sad incident happened in my life on Januray 22nd, I started to find answers to hundreds of doubts I have with respect to life and the purpose of my life. Fortunately Google is so intelligent it is almost like they are capable of reading the minds of people by providing what people want. I am thankful for your website with such vast information available on spiritual matters. I wonder how I come have not heard of you before.

I have got the Bhagvat Geeta audiobook from Storytel and I will listen to it tomorrow in my train journey to Chennai.

Hope to meet you someday in person.

With kindest regards from a lost soul,

    Mallikarjuna Rao

  3. Dear friend Krishna,

Finally, Savithri managed to get all of us together at home on Sunday and we listened to your Gita audio book on Audible. My first reaction is that through you I see Lord Krishna entering our home and helping us resolve matters that earlier seemed impossible to solve. On Savithri’s insistence, I have been through the Gita on your site but listening to it read by you in your enrapturing voice made us get a totally different and deep insight into the Gita. I am going to hear it many more times when I drive to work. Keep up the brilliant work my friend. The wonderful help that you have been offering to strangers like us from around the world must be getting you a lot of good karma.

I have recommended your audio book to almost everyone in my social groups.

We will never cease to be thankful for all your help and to admire you for your infectious positive attitude towards everything in life.

May God Bless you and your family.

    Best regards,

  4. Dear all,

    Hope you are all fine.

As we had an emergency in Patna we had to go there for a few days. We returned yesterday morning and then in the night we heard the full Gita. It went upto 2AM! My mother in law, husband and me heard it together on our new Philips sound system. We had a short break of 10 minutes after chapter 12.

I really don’t know how to describe the superb experience we all had! Sir’s voice and superb pronunciation are simply great! After completing all the chapters we had the feeling as though we came out from a great movie! The way sir has spoken is like as though we are seeing a film!

When we started I told my husband and mil about the main point which sir said. He said to have the main aim of completing all the 18 chapters even if we do not follow in some places because sir said in the end when we will have the feeling of having completed the Gita that itself will be a superb feeling and make us go deeper into it. My mil who is a regular pilgrim to Vaishno devi temple since many years was speechless after listening to the whole Gita. At her age even she heard the full Gita for the first time in her life.

I was very emotional in some places like in chapters 9,10 and 11 and also in 18. In the 11th when Arjun asks Lord Krishna to forgive him like a father, friend or lover my tears came like waterfalls! The ending of the whole Gita is just too too good!

Definitely we will follow another thing sir said which is to hear it minimum five times.

Simmilar to what sanjay said in the end of the Gita, I too would like to say that I am experiencing the pleasure of the listening to our beloved Tavamithram sir’s fantastic creation again and again!

With deepest gratitude to sir and warm affection to all,

    Ma, Ram and Vedhika

  5. Hi Sir…

  7. Hi all,

I have completed listening to all the chapters! It has been a marvelous, magnificent and phenomenal experience! The master’s captivating narration in his enchanting voice took me into a deep meditative trance. When I heard the foreword and introduction itself I knew I was in for something major in my life. Then it was like understanding everything step by step. Wow! After completing I needed 15 minutes to come back to my normal state. I am feeling like I had another birth…it is not easy to describe. My mind is clearer so I have no more worries about makar rashi sadesathi and all that. I wish I had got this chance much before in my life…..things would have been much different.

One thing is definite that I will hear it minimum 10 times in one month. I never expected my life will undergo such a tremendous change in the last one year and now after today.

Sincere thanks and regards to the master and to all,

    Chandrika Mano

  8. Dear Tavamithram Sir,

I am waiting eagerly for the Audiobook on Srimad BhagavadGita in your voice.

I personally know quite a few people who need this in their life right now.

I intend to do my bit and spread the word and gift them this treasure as soon as it it out on Amazon.

The 2 biggest hurdles to most of us are, the disconnection to our Sanskrit language and lack of patience to sit and read a book.

The audio book addresses both the problems, and brings the wisdom through the words of Bhagavan Krishna closer than ever before to our lives.

Your confident and soothing voice in English, paired with a superb production quality, effort and patience (I can only imagine how much time and attention was put into this), makes this an easy and powerful instrument that can help people stand up on their own and change their lives for the better.

Be it for someone who is too occupied at work and chores, or someone who does not have a temperament to read, but really wants to know what is in our Bhagavadgita, this audio book is a godsend.

Our lack of knowledge in Sanskrit language and apprehensions about the ancient wisdom has held us back in pursuit of this knowledge treasure trove of mind management. This Audio book in English removes all that, and can also reach millions more in about 3.5 hours, in a language that is one of the most common in the world.

I sincerely thank you for the opportunity given to listen to the audio book.

    1. Hello Manju,

The audiobook “The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English retold and read for you by Tavamithram Sarvada” is listed on Amazon but is still not available for download. Some of our friends have searched the title or even just ‘Tavamithram’ on Amazon. Their searches resulted in the title of the audiobook being displayed but with no image or audio download buttons. I guess we have to wait for some more time.

There are three main aspects to reading the Srimad Bhagavad Gita:
      1. Learning all the 700 Shlokasin Sanskrit.
      2. Reading the translation of the Shlokas and understanding the teachings of Krishna.
      3. Learning to apply the divine knowledge in one’s life.

I have come across people who have been studying the Sanskrit Shlokas of the SBG for years and decades, and can even recite the entire SBG by heart, but they have neither understood the philosophy taught in it nor have they learned ways to apply the knowledge in their day to day life. This audiobook is aimed at points number 2 and 3. Listening to the audiobook regularly will certainly help people a lot by literally fixing the rich, deep and divine knowledge imparted by Bhagavan Krishna in their minds apart from etching the smooth flow of the chapters and enabling them to apply all the knowledge in their lives. There is nothing that people who have controlled and harnessed their mind cannot achieve. For the one whose mind is under his or her own control, nothing is impossible.

      Jai Shri Krishna

      1. Hi Sir,

Could you please tell me roughly how much more time it will take? Is there a way that I can get it directly from you? I can pay whatever the charges are. I pray you don’t think I am impatient or disrespectful. I am asking because I have made some plans in my Gita studies and so I am eagerly looking forward to hear your audio in English.

        Sincere thanks and regards,

        1. Hello Chandrika,

Your interest is greatly appreciated. I would suggest that we wait for a few more days until the audiobook is published. In the meantime, I shall check with the publishing house again.

          Jai Shri Krishna

  9. Namaste.

This is to let you all know that I received a confirmation from the publishing company today saying that they have gone through all my audio files and that they are sending my audiobook to retailers. Due to audio length limits, I had the break the book into three parts which I did quite reluctantly because I actually prefer people to hear the whole book in one session without any breaks.

It is my humble desire that Dharmic children and also those of brainwashed, converted and pseudo westernised families get to hear the audiobook. My son Vishal was taught all the chapters as early as 8 years ago when he was about six or seven years old. The knowledge helps him greatly by making him a calm and composed person even when under pressure due to work related to his school as well as to his music studies or due to stress from his peer group. He has learned to apply certain important teachings of Krishna in his day to day life at school.

We are all so very blessed with this great scripture which is indeed a priceless treasure but thanks to misplaced priorities and due to the influence of people with confusing ideologies, people somehow ignore teaching their children this great science of life.

    Bhagavan Krishna said:

    एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदुः |
    स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्टः परंतप || ४ २ ||
SBG 4:02 This Yoga was handed down through generations of royal sages. But in due course, the passing down of the Yoga from generation to generation has been broken and the Yoga is lost O Arjuna.

I shall post an announcement once the audiobook appears on Amazon and on other online bookstores.

The title of the book is “The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English retold and read for you by Tavamithram Sarvada”.

    Jai Shri Krishna

  10. Our SoundCloud and the Release of the Audiobook – The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English presented by Tavamithram

As part of my preparation for publishing the Audiobook – ‘The Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English presented by Tavamithram’, I have taken the advice of some well-wishers and have made a SoundCloud account with audio tracks of the videos on our YouTube Channel, that can be used for promoting the product.

I am currently in contact with two companies regarding publishing the Audiobook hoping to decide on either of them and succeed in publishing the audiobook on the 2nd of September 2019, which happens to be Ganesh Chaturthi day this year.

Since the Sanatana Dharma is not an organised religion with commandments, rules and other conditions, I am of the humble opinion that for anyone to call themselves a Sanatana Dharmi (a Hindu), they should have read or heard the entire Srimad Bhagavad Gita in a language of their choice at least once in their lifetime. The audiobook that I have created is designed to help English speaking people achieve this modest goal and minimum requirement within a period of two hours and fifty minutes, which is the time one would need to watch a typical Bollywood film, thereby giving them the consciousness and strong sense of being Sanatana Dharmic, and changing their life for the better forever.

    Jai Shri Krishna

  11. Hi Sir,

  12. Hare Krishna. My name is K.Ramasubramanian a devout Krishna bhakta and resident of the US. This link was sent to me this morning by a friend from Bangalore who said he is your old colleague. I wholeheartedly welcome the audiobook of the Bhagavad Gita and have already shared your website in my groups. The idea of narration is a good idea as it will have a better reach. You are doing noble work which will get you Krishna’s blessings. I presume it will be on Audible to?

Savithri told me this morning that you are coming out with an audio release of the Gita and she played me a bit of it. For the little I heard today I’d like to offer you my deepest appreciation.

  14. Namaste.

I thank you all for your interest. The final mastering of the audio is currently being done. The entire audiobook is of 170 minutes, however, some channels insist that an audio file should not be longer than 120 minutes. I have been therefore forced to divide the entire audio into three parts although I would prefer it to be one whole volume that people can listen to without any breaks in between.
Part 1 Introduction to Chapter 5 (60 minutes)
    Part 2 Chapter 6 to Chapter 12 (60 minutes)
    Part 3 Chapter 13 to Chapter 18 (50 minutes)

I sincerely pray to Bhagavan Krishna that this modest project benefits people by helping them be blessed with the Supreme Knowledge of The Srimad Bhagavad Gita that can remove from their mind self-doubt, doubts in general, fear, the lack of self-confidence and anger apart from many other negative qualities; fill their heart and entire being with Divine Grace, great health, peace, love, courage, confidence, a 100% Positive Mental Attitude and an unshakeable winning character; and their Karmic voyage with abundant positive Karma.

It is my fervent belief that going through the entire audiobook and following even a small portion of the philosophy taught in it, can correct major faults in one’s way of thinking thereby phenomenally transforming and greatly improving their lives.

    Jai Shri Krishna
